5 weeks after leaving Australia I’m finally in Bali my new home.
The reason I haven’t blogged in so long is because Bali is just amazing. I’ve been doing lots of things and enjoying everything.
It started with the flight from Yogyakarta to Bali.
I was excited thinking about my new home and what it would be like. Would I love it, would I hate it. Where were we going to live and I wondered what my new school would be like. On the flight we could see huge volcanoes out the plane window and it reminded me I was moving to a island of volcanoes and regular earthquakes. I didn’t know I was also moving to an island full of magic and that where I would end up living was the centre of magic in Bali.
It was great to finally land in Bali and then a disappointment. We were meant to be met by my mums new boss at the airport but he forgot. Mum wasn’t worried. We got a taxi and then mum and I met him later.
My first impressions of Bali were:
not too hot
lots of rubbish everywhere and the smell of smoke from small fires people light to burn their rubbish
beautiful kites flying in the sky
lots and lots of scooters, whole families on scooters
the Balinese people are so friendly and lovely
I’m now living in Sanur in a beautiful Balinese bungalow with an amazing garden. Only 30 seconds walk from the beach. Its down a little alley called a gang with food shops called warungs and even opposite my gate a little warung where the lady owner makes and sells offerings for the gods.
I have so much more to write about. My school, my Bali wild cat kitten who we rescued when he fell down from inside a roof and was trapped between the walls, the most amazing snorkelling places, all the fascinating stories about magic, customs and beliefs and the colourful cremations that happen just down the road.
